I am a California native currently working as an Architectural Lighting Designer in San Francisco. My work is informed by the idea that our experiences of place are both informative and powerfully transformative. I believe that vision is one of our primary vehicles of experience and light is a powerful phenomenon which brings our vision to life.

I received my B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of San Diego in 2003. During that time I was inspired by the works of many contemporary installation artists such as Dan Graham and Olafur Eliasson whose works are deeply emotive and challenge our understanding of our relationships to the spaces we dwell in. I continued my formal education at the Hochschule Wismar in Germany where I received an M.A. in Architectural Lighting Design in 2007. This was the platform for my current position as a Lighting Designer at Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design. For me lighting design has been the perfect marriage of my life long love of the sciences and my passionate connection to the emotional qualities of art and light.

I believe that every place has a style, history, material, emotion and narrative that in conjunction with our perception belong only to that location. For me the power of light is it's ability to render each of these local elements in a myriad of ways. My architectural lighting practice is based on the concept that a designer should strive to protect the genius loci, while creating environments of function, comfort, and inspiration that tread lightly on the earth. Through my technical experience, deep understanding of sustainable practices and artistic background I aim to produce provocative designs which are practical, functional, thoughtful and innovative.
